The Nike Elite 100 in St. Louis provided an opportunity for one hundred on Nike’s top rising sophomores and juniors a venue to be provided with some skill development and compete against some of the premier young players in the game. These were thirteen of the standouts in the backcourt:
Jalen Lecque: The explosive 6’3″ five-star guard has emerged as one of the premier point guards in the class of 2019. With a potent mix of excellent athleticism, size, improved skill and understanding, he’s become one of the most challenging point guards to defend in his class. Surrounded by talent, he flourished and demonstrated not only his overall court vision, but the willingness to pass the ball. No guard in attendance was able to function against pressure any better, which stemmed from his exceptional speed, understanding and size for the position. Relatively skinny of frame, Lecque routinely dealt with very physical contact when he attacked the rim, but, with the tenacity of a boxer, he simply stood up, made his free throws and kept attacking the basket. In the coming years, Lecque will need to continue to refine his three-point shot to become a more complete player. Lecque has been been offered by Providence, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Minnesota, and Auburn.
